Gem Tang (Zebrasoma gemmatum)

Rare, striking, and highly sought after, the Gem Tang is a true gem in any saltwater aquarium with its deep black body covered in brilliant white or yellow spots.

• Distribution: Western Indian Ocean, primarily around Mauritius and Madagascar

• Size: Up to 8 inches (20 cm)

• Habitat: Rocky reefs and outer reef slopes with strong water movement

• Diet: Herbivore – feeds on marine algae; supplement with nori, spirulina, and herbivore preparations

• Aquarium Care: Requires a mature tank of at least 120 gallons, with excellent water quality and lots of live rock for grazing. Can be territorial with other tangs
