Distribution: Indo-Pacific – including the Red Sea, East Africa, and islands of the western Pacific

Size: Up to 5 inches (13 cm)

Habitat: Outer reef slopes and drop-offs, usually found in large midwater schools

Diet: Planktivore – feeds on zooplankton in the water column; needs multiple daily feedings of mysis, brine, copepods, and quality frozen foods

Aquarium Care: Should be kept in groups (1 male with several females) in a tank of at least 100 gallons. Requires high oxygen levels, stable water, and low aggression tankmates

Reef Safe: Yes. Does not bother corals or invertebrates
