Indian Triggerfish (Melichthys indicus)

Also known as the Black Triggerfish or Indian Black Trigger, this species is hardy, active, and known for its bold personality and striking dark coloration.
• Distribution: Indian Ocean – including the Red Sea, Maldives, and surrounding regions
• Size: Up to 10 inches (25 cm)
• Habitat: Outer reef slopes and lagoons, often near drop-offs with strong currents
• Diet: Omnivore – feeds on a variety of meaty foods, algae, crustaceans, and prepared marine diets
• Aquarium Care: Requires a tank of at least 125 gallons, with strong water movement and plenty of swimming space. May become territorial with age
• Reef Safe: With caution. Generally avoids corals but may nip at invertebrates like shrimp and snails
