Origin: Indo-Pacific (Red Sea to Hawaii and French Polynesia)

Habitat: Outer reef slopes and lagoons, often in open water near reef drop-offs

Diet: Herbivore – Primarily grazes on brown and green algae; in captivity, feeds on nori, spirulina, and herbivore-based pellets and frozen foods

Size: Up to 18 inches (45 cm)

Reef Safe: Yes – Does not harm corals or clams

Minimum Tank Size: 250 gallons (950 liters) – Needs ample swimming space

Temperament: Peaceful – Generally non-aggressive but may chase other tangs if crowded
