Purple Tilefish (Hoplolatilus purpureus)

Origin: Western Pacific (Indonesia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea)
Habitat: Outer reef slopes and deep sandy rubble zones, usually at depths of 30–60 meters
Diet: Carnivore – Feeds on zooplankton and small invertebrates; in captivity, accepts mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, and high-protein frozen foods
Size: Up to 5 inches (13 cm)
Reef Safe: Yes – Safe with corals and invertebrates
Minimum Tank Size: 50 gallons (190 liters) – Preferably with a deep sand bed and secure lid
Temperament: Peaceful – Does well in community and reef tanks, but may be shy
Care Level: Moderate to difficult – Requires stable water parameters and a covered tank (prone to jumping)
